How can we combat code and idea theft while remaining open source? Boinc administrators are deleting all my messages and posts. How can I intervene against these code thieves? What are your suggestions?

It turns out that the code for the Yarrow project was stolen by a bully named Skillz. He's going to take my project and publish it as if it were his own. Since the statistics website is also under his control, he can do whatever he wants. A few labor thieves who don't produce ideas or put in any effort.

In reply to Alperen Yavuz's message of 26 Oct 2026: Boinc administrators are deleting all my messages and posts. How can I intervene against these code thieves? What about GitHub policy violation if there's any? I don't know really how OpenSource should work in this situation. How could it be protected then?

We could release the code as closed source, but then people would attack us everywhere. Even though we already have open-source code, they're slandering us for no reason in all the forums. I have no idea why people are behaving like this; it's very abnormal. It's like they're in a state of hysteria, or maybe they're all bot accounts controlled by one or two people.

In reply to Tamagoch's message of 27 Oct 2026: I don't understand such behaviour either. If the code is open, everyone can take and use it (fork), provided that the real origin of the code is EXPLICITY cited On hte Beacon@home site i don't find any citation of the source of the code. Don't let them demotivate you. +1 |

In reply to boboviz's message of 30 Oct 2026: In reply to Tamagoch's message of 27 Oct 2026: they did not publish source codes and if they would do they probably can refactor the code to avoid being identical from yarrow repo on github what is strange is that why they suddenly decided to post such project after YEARs of r@h inactivity and exactly after bitboinc started it the only way to fight with bullies and thieves is to be strong and do your job better then them. it is unfortunate situation that Bok gave access to free-dc to a person with bad intents but this is the reality we must live in today. I did send few messages to skillz but he did not consider that replying is important. I crunch for Ukraine

I spent hours trying to make the radiation detectors stop beeping. When everything was ready, I shared it on the BOINC forum. The very next day, they copied my project completely. Because they control the statistics site, they can do whatever they want. And the idiots on the BOINC forum defend them no matter what they do. They found a random IP address registered in Turkey, wrote some swear words I don't even understand, and claimed I wrote them. I spent a week working on the project, and the next day they just took the code and started their own project. Five months ago, I mentioned this idea on the GPU Users group's Discord forum, saying I was going to build a radiation/radon network and asking for help from those with electronics knowledge to design a radon detector. They said it was a pointless effort. Now they've just built upon the existing code. What more proof do they need? They'll probably steal other astrophysics projects as well. And to shut the mouths of those idle people looking for an expert, I found a physicist from Brazil who will join the project as a supervisor. He has little free time, but he will occasionally check on things and show interest. Much of the data we published on Zenododa has been downloaded and reviewed multiple times, and not a single error message has been received. Furthermore, Claude Science is still evaluating us; they haven't rejected us and even offered us a free subscription plan. And I will not allow that American scumbag, who thinks he owns the world, to seize all these projects. They'll probably steal the other projects soon too. Instead of handing my project over to that piece of shit, I'll gradually bring it to an end.

In reply to Alperen Yavuz's message of 30 Oct 2026: What more proof do they need? Wait, wait. I'm NOT suggesting you're lying, on the contrary. But it's difficult to demonstrate a "code stolen" Instead of handing my project over to that piece of shit, I'll gradually bring it to an end. We ask you to reconsider |

In reply to Alperen Yavuz's message of 30 Oct 2026: another They are still continuing to steal. omg, that is not fun anymore. Now lets see how people who criticized Bitboinc for doing puzzles will take care of this clone Rytis is admin of Primegrid project. That is definitely not a respectable action from him I crunch for Ukraine

Do you think it's normal for them to oppose my project and steal it in both cases?

In reply to Alperen Yavuz's message of 30 Oct 2026: another They are still continuing to steal. Calm down. This project seems created by Rytis Slatkevicius, an an old acquaintan of the boinc world and a coder (for example he create, 12 years ago, a fork of CudaMiner). Obviously, it seems strange that the project started right now, after you wrote your code. I'd like to delve deeper into this. |

In reply to Falconet's message of 30 Oct 2026: But are they actually using your app or simply running their own search with their own applications? the issue is that instead of doing something new and unique, people steal existing idea (which appeared just a month ago), wrap it with AI and run themselves pretending it is their invention now Rytis will promote this project on Primegrid forums and all initial criticizers of bitboinc will stay silent I crunch for Ukraine

In reply to Falconet's message of 30 Oct 2026: I don't know who the people behind that project are or whether they opposed your project. My project was removed from statistics websites. Now they're going to take every single part of it and publish it as their own. Even the theft of my idea is a problem. Why didn't these people do this years ago? Why are they copying my project now that I've created it?

In reply to Falconet's message of 30 Oct 2026: But are they actually using your app or simply running their own search with their own applications? This is, for me, the difficult part (and this is why i asked) It's DIFFICULT to demonstrate the use of Alperen's code. The chronological contemporaneity is a strong indication, but it's not definitive proof. It would be necessary to examine the source code of those two projects. |

In reply to Falconet's message of 30 Oct 2026: Right, but from what I understand there are multiple people/groups running searches to get the Bitcoin on these wallets. Yes puzzle is a kind of public domain. But instead of stealing the idea (crack it with BOINC) within a month of publication on Bitboinc, Rytis could offer a mutually benefitial plan like he might promote Potamos/Keranous on Primegrid and negotiate the share of the profit if puzzle is solved I crunch for Ukraine

In reply to Falconet's message of 30 Oct 2026: Sure, he could. It's an effort duplication after all. But he can still launch his own project with his own apps if he wishes. In my perspective the issue is that instead of taking a new fresh idea where there are millions of them, like bitboinc is doing, people just steal the idea without even a sign of shame. This is the issue. I wonder if someone should spin up a new a bit faster project that crunches prime numbers now ..? I crunch for Ukraine
