Skia searches real Euclid space telescope images of gravitational lenses for the faint distortions that small, invisible clumps of dark matter would leave in the lensed arcs. For every lens a smooth model is fitted first, then a small clump is tried at each point of a grid of positions and strengths, and the improvement of the fit is recorded.
Description and how to join: Skia: dark matter clumps in gravitational lenses. Every task is computed by two volunteers and the results are compared. Improvements shown here are not calibrated detections.
Tasks validated per day (UTC), last 14 days.
